BANDUNG, meteo.itb.ac.id – In anticipation of the October 2023 graduation ceremony, the Meteorology Study Program at the Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB) held a final project exhibition and a talk show on Thursday (August 26, 2023) at the ITB East CC Auditorium and Gallery.
The 2023 Meteorology Final Project Fair consisted of two main segments: poster presentations and final project presentations by three selected graduates—Rahastuti Tiara Adysti (titled “Simulation of Land Cover Change Impacts on Weather Patterns in Indonesia’s New National Capital”), Ismail Robbani (titled “Assessment of Climate Change Hazards Using the Climate Hazard Index in Indonesia”), and Siti Aminah (titled “Identification of Extreme Rainfall Changes Due to Climate Change in Indonesia”)—followed by a talk show.
The talk show featured speakers employed by meteorology-related companies: Nadya, Tutus, and Ito. The first speaker, Nadya, works as a weather forecaster at Fugro, a land and marine survey company. Her role involves analyzing models and issuing warnings regarding potentially hazardous meteorological phenomena, such as tropical cyclones and storms.
Next, the talk show featured Tutus, who works at Akuo Energy, an Indonesian power provider that sells electricity generated from wind, solar, gas, and other sources, with the State Electricity Company (PLN) as its primary client. Tutus chose this career path because of his interest in renewable energy and the role of wind engineers in Indonesia. “Don’t be afraid to ask questions, and keep learning,” Tutus advised the 2023 Meteorology graduates.
The final speaker was Ito, who works at a market research firm specializing in technology-based social studies. According to Ito, the skills one needs to cultivate to enter the field of market research include basic statistical logic, the ability to work under pressure, social communication skills, and strong reasoning capabilities.
This talk show is expected to inspire graduates and other attendees to remain actively involved in the field of meteorology in Indonesia.

The event also featured a final project poster exhibition, organized into three sessions: Atmospheric Environment, Hydrometeorology, and Atmospheric Science and Modelling. Several Indonesian companies specializing in meteorology—such as Manvis, BRIN, and PT Bhumi—attended the exhibition.
“This Final Project Fair is engaging because it features booths from meteorology companies, allowing us—as graduating students—to ask about the job opportunities available at those firms,” said Esy, a 2023 ITB Meteorology graduate.
In addition to the 2023 Meteorology graduates, the fair was attended by Meteorology students from the classes of 2020 through 2022.

“I am delighted to participate in this TA Fair, as it allows me to get to know junior students and share insights on the topics we’ve covered; this way, if any juniors want to know more about these subjects, they can ask directly. Outside of this event, communication and meeting up would be difficult, and it would be harder to ask questions in settings like open meetings or other formal events. This event really fosters greater communication,” said Amanda, a 2023 Meteorology graduate from ITB.
Lutfiah, a participant in the 2023 Meteorology TA Fair, found the event both enjoyable and enlightening. It provided valuable insights, especially for her and her peers who are currently working on their final projects.
“The talk show was incredibly helpful for planning our futures after completing this meteorology degree. I’m really happy about the many benefits I gained—plus, there was free ice cream,” said Lutfiah, a student in the Meteorology program.
